Understanding, and Improving Diagnosis of Very Early Disease
Leads: Prof Yuben Moodley and Prof Joseph Powell
Pulmonary fibrosis is typically diagnosed late in its natural history, when few effective treatment options are available. Once present, fibrosis is irreversible and existing treatments only slow its progression.
Prevention of fibrosis represents the most effective way to preserve the structure and function of the lung and improve outcomes for pulmonary fibrosis patients.
- We are investigating how circulatory, lung and radiological biomarkers and genetic associations can be used to predict progression of very early disease.
- We are evaluating the diagnostic potential of novel, single cell RNA sequencing.
