2025 Kick-Starter Grants

The CRE-PF was proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Kick-Starter Grants at the recent CREATE Researcher Development Weekend. These competitive grants provide essential seed funding to support early-stage research projects that advance our mission to improve outcomes for people living with pulmonary fibrosis.

This year we awarded 2 Kick-Starter Grant valued at $100,000 each, over one year to support direct research costs and help promising ideas progress toward future impact.

2025 Grant Recipients

Dr Peter Allen, from the Garvan Institute of Medical Research for: Restoring Immune Confidence to Combat Fibrosis: A Multi-Omic Strategy to Target Senescent-Immune Crosstalk in IPF.

Professor Dan Chambers and team from the University of Queensland for: TeloDx: Open access precision diagnostic testing for pulmonary fibrosis using chromosome-specific long-read sequencing.

Dr John Mackintosh accepted the award on behalf of Prof Chambers.

Supporting Innovation and Future Impact

The CRE-PF Kick-Starter Grants are designed to catalyse innovative research ideas and support investigators to generate preliminary data, strengthen collaborative networks, and build a foundation for future funding opportunities.
