Stefan Stanel

About

Stefan is an Interstitial Lung Diseases (ILD) consultant currently based in the UK. He trained in Respiratory Medicine in Iasi, Romania, before moving to Manchester as a clinical fellow in ILD.

He began his research career in 2020, initially gaining experience as a research physician in early phase respiratory studies, then started working towards an MD (research) degree with the University of Manchester, focusing on post COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis and the role of circadian disruption in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.  

He has a special interest in familial ILD and is working towards establishing dedicated familial clinics, registries and multidisciplinary meetings. He is keen to develop an active international research and educational collaboration for projects tackling unmet need in the emerging field of familial and rare ILDs.
