Aisling Corbet

About

Aisling is an early-career postdoctoral research scientist at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, working under the mentorship of Professor Tamera Corte.Β She was awarded her PhD in Infection Biology from University College Dublin in 2024, where her research focused on the interaction between the gut microbiome and colorectal cancer tissues. Her work examined how the tumour microenvironment facilitates bacterial colonisation and contributes to systemic infection, leading to the identification of a novel therapeutic target that may disrupt the role of bacteria in cancer progression.

Aisling has since joined the Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) team at RPA as a research assistant. Her current research explores the role of sex hormones in telomere length and the development of ILD, as well as the clinical utility of nailfold capillaroscopy in diagnosing and monitoring disease progression. Her projects aim to deepen our understanding of the clinical manifestations of ILD and investigate potential tools to improve early diagnosis and patient outcomes.
