About

Dr Diana Quan, BSc (Hons), MA, PhD, is an Early Career Researcher at the Centre of Inflammation at Centenary Institute. With extensive expertise specialising in tuberculosis (TB) drug and vaccine development, Dr Quan developed and optimised end-to-end screening platforms for the evaluation of novel therapies for TB during her PhD candidature.

After graduating, Dr Quan was awarded a post-doctoral fellowship and seed funding from the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in TB Control to initiate a new project on the effects of environmental factors including cigarette smoke (CS) and silica exposure on TB and the protective effect of TB vaccines.

Dr. Quan has developed an innovative murine model of chronic, low-dose exposure to respirable crystalline silica (RCS) to target a critical and understudied aspect of silicosis, the early events in the onset of pathogenesis that drive the development and progression, and is currently engaged in defining the molecular and inflammatory mechanisms by which silicosis develops.
