About
Maxwell Sharp completed his Bachelor of Medical Research majoring in medical sciences at the University of Tasmania. He achieved first class Honours in 2024 investigating the transcriptome of fibroblasts and alveolar macrophages exposed to dust from engineered stone benchtops.
He is now undertaking his PhD under the supervision of Prof Jo Dickinson, Dr Sionne Lucas, Dr Kelsie Raspin and Dr Ella Smalley. His research aims to define the function of rare high risk gene variants that have previously been identified in familial cases of pulmonary fibrosis. This will be done primarily with the use of edited induced pluripotent stem cells harbouring the rare high risk variants of interest. His work is being completed for the Genetic Research in Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (GRIPF) study.
