About
Olivia Young completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Sciences with first class Honours in Respiratory Pharmacology at Monash University in 2021.
She is currently undertaking her PhD in the same department under the supervision of Prof Jane Bourke and Prof Robert Widdop. Her research concerns the potential for activation of the anti-fibrotic elements of the Renin-Angiotensin system (RAS) as novel anti-fibrotics in the treatment of IPF. She is particularly interested in modelling IPF ex vivo using precision cut lung slices to screen novel anti-fibrotic compounds.
Olivia has published a review on the role of the RAS in IPF (Young et al., 2023, Biochem Pharmacol), in addition to being a finalist in the New Investigator Award at both the ASCEPT (2024) and TSANZ (2025) national meetings.
