The Centre of Research Excellence in Pulmonary Fibrosis (CRE-PF) is pleased to announce that applications for the 2026 CREATE Collaboration Grants are now open!
In 2026, three (3) grants valued at up to $10,000 each will be awarded to support new, investigator-led pulmonary fibrosis research collaborations among CREATE Fellows.
Supporting collaboration and innovation
CREATE Collaboration Grants are designed to foster new research partnerships and generate innovative ideas that align with the strategic aims of the CRE-PF. By supporting early-stage collaboration, these grants aim to help researchers build strong foundations for future, larger-scale funding opportunities.
CREATE Fellows are encouraged to apply as part of a team of 2 or more investigators, working together on a new collaborative project.
Seed funding to grow research impact
These grants are intended as seed funding rather than sole support for a project. They are designed to help researchers:
- generate pilot data to support future grant applications
- establish new collaborations
- strengthen the competitiveness of external funding proposals.
Funding may be used for:
- travel and associated costs to enable investigators to work together
- equipment and consumables directly related to the project
- additional laboratory work
- technical staff support
- post-hoc statistical or bioinformatic analysis of existing datasets.
Applicants should outline how the grant will contribute to a broader funding strategy and identify any additional sources of support for the overall project.
Assessment process
Applications will be assessed by non-conflicted members of the CREATE Program Advisory Committee and the CRE-PF Consumer Advisory Group.
The CRE-PF reserves the right not to award grants if applications are not of sufficient merit.
Eligibility criteria
To be eligible, applicants must:
- be current CREATE Fellows
- apply as a team of two or more investigators
- propose investigator-led pulmonary fibrosis research
- focus on new collaborations (not existing projects)
- ensure the research aligns with pulmonary fibrosis priorities (including IPF and related interstitial lung diseases)
These grants are an exciting opportunity to spark new collaborations and accelerate progress in pulmonary fibrosis research.
Applications close Sunday 31 May 2026. We encourage all eligible CREATE Fellows to apply!
