We’re excited to announce that Dr Sionne Lucas from the University of Tasmania is this year’s PACT Grant-in-Aid winner for Establishing the Pulmonary Fibrosis Variation Curation Database.
Dr Lucas, along with the other chief investigators, are a team of clinicians and researchers who aim to better understand and use pulmonary fibrosis genetics knowledge to improve the lives of people with pulmonary fibrosis.
This project aims to establish the PF Variant Curation Database to expedite targeted genetic research and identify pulmonary fibrosis-causing variants.
Preliminary data generated from the established Australian Genetic Research in Pulmonary Fibrosis (GRIPF) Study will be incorporated, along with the results of clinical genetic testing, and combined into one accessible platform to:
- improve transparency
- focus research efforts
- inform clinical care and
- provide more patients with a clear genetic result and personalised clinical management.
Every year the Pulmonary Fibrosis Australasian Clinical Trials (PACT) Network offers the PACT Grant-in-Aid for Investigator Led Pulmonary Fibrosis Clinical Research, applications close in June.
